Animal Fighting UPDATE

In May 2025 Fylde Rural Task Force uncovered an organised cockfighting ring on West Moss Lane, Lytham🐔

The team attended with RSPCA and uncovered several makeshift fighting pits with blood splatters confirmed to be from cockerels.

In total 27 cockerels were seized from small unkept crates, many of which had been dubbed for fighting and required medical attention.

Also seized was a quantity of supplements and medication used to enhance performance💊

Henry BEANEY, aged 32 of Bridge House Road, Blackpool was identified and arrested in relation to multiple animal welfare offences👮🏻‍♀️

Messages were recovered from BEANEY's phone regarding the buying and selling of 'gaffs' - knives or blades attached to cockerels during fights to inflict more damage.

Earlier this week, BEANEY appeared at Lancashire Magistrates Court where he was convicted for multiple counts of failing to take reasonable steps to ensure the needs of animals and keeping/training animals for animal fighting🧑🏻‍⚖️

BEANEY has been sentenced with an 18 month community order, 140 hours unpaid work and a £450 fine. He has also been banned from keeping animals for a period of 7 years❌
